Lent and Easter at St John’s Waterloo
Lent Course
Mondays 7pm – 8.15pm 23rd February – 23rd March in the Old Crypt.
This five-week Lent course offers an introduction to Christianity. We’ll be exploring the Christian faith through the language of generous faith with space for discussion and questions.

- Week 1: Monday 23rd February – God as Father and Mother, source of love and creation
- Week 2: Monday 2nd March – God the Son, the Word made flesh in Jesus
- Week 3: Monday 9th March – God the Holy Spirit, Sophia Wisdom & the mystery of the Trinity
- Week 4: Monday 16th March – The Church and the Sacraments: the imperfect yet holy spaces where faith is shared
- Week 5: Monday 23rd March – Living out our faith today – not as a set of fixed answers, but as a way of life shaped by love, justice, and hope
All are welcome – whether you’re new to Christianity or if you’d like a refresher – and if you can’t make all five weeks just join for the ones you can.

Maundy Thursday 2nd April, 7 pm Eucharist service and a meal in remembrance of the Last Supper. followed by Watch in the Garden of Gethsemane
Good Friday 3rd April, 10 am Walk of Witness leading to the Pop Up Church in Waterloo Station
Good Friday Liturgy, 1.30 pm The Good Friday Liturgy service commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus with relections
Easter Sunday Dawn Vigil 5.30 am The start of our Easter services followed by breakfast

Programme of events
St John’s Waterloo, the church on the IMAX roundabout at Waterloo, is a historic Grade II* church that reopened in October 2022 after a major restoration by Eric Parry Architects.
It is one of the most inclusive churches in London and provides the best new performance, event and meeting spaces on the South Bank, fulfilling its commitment to be here for everyone. St John’s produces a year-round programme of arts and culture, including the annual Waterloo Festival, and is co-home to the academy-orchestra Southbank Sinfonia. It also runs the award-winning churchyard garden and offers a variety of community projects such as Room for You, English Conversation Classes and the monthly Film Club.
