2019 got off to a celebratory start for one of St John’s long-standing congregants. Rosa Wright turned 100, and received a card from the Queen. The congregation on Sunday January 26th delivered a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, as Rosa, resplendent in her best blue dress, enjoyed a special cake and reflected on her three decades at the heart of the church.
Rosa has lived a rich life. She received an MBE for her work in the Civil Service, was warden of the nearby Christian Alliance Hostel, and also served as church warden of St John’s for many years.
Many happy returns, Rosa, and here’s to plenty more birthdays!
